just been thinking about why “I love you” as a piece of dialogue does absolutely nothing for anyone and decided to collect the most romantic lines in fiction (for me) either as standalone pieces of dialogue or lines that are only evocative in context…limiting myself to one piece of dialogue per media because otherwise…lord help me:

-“it seemed logical that I should return to the company of the only person I…the only person who is like you.”

-“I am a ridiculous man. Redeemed only by the warmth and constancy of your friendship.”

- “your name is a golden bell hung in my heart. I would break my body to pieces to call you once by your name.”
